Who Is Lady Sunshine?
Lady Sunshine is Laurie Pfaff.
In 2012, she created the Sunshine Ukulele Network (S.U.N.), a monthly jam at the Orillia Public Library.
She taught mathematics and science for over 30 years.
A long-time musician, she began with piano and guitar, continued with music theory and violin, culminating with 12 years of ukulele.
Lady Sunshine is passionate about community music and believes that everyone benefits from being personally involved in music creation.
She is also passionate about the ukulele. It is so accessible and social – the perfect instrument to encourage your music-making!
What’s in a name? I believe that often the names we are given represent us better than the names we might choose for ourself. After a period of loss and grief, things began to move in my life to bring back my hope and joy. I began to smile again. My close friends saw this change in me and one of them commented that they had their lady sunshine back;- and so, I became Lady Sunshine. And I hope that I can bring you joy as well by helping you along your ukulele musical path.
